My name is Adam Agree. With over a decade of experience as a Social Studies educator at Chatham High School, I have seen firsthand how collaborative environments spark intellectual curiosity and social growth. My love for games goes back as long as I can remember. Whether it was team sports, board games, video games, card games, or playing make-believe, I have been doing it since I was able.
My love of stories goes back just as far. When I started playing Dungeons & Dragons, I found it was the perfect combination of the two. Dungeons & Dragons is essentially a game of make-believe in which players embody adventurers who need to conquer challenges, defeat foes, and whose actions will impact a world that they will create together. Players and Game Masters alike are empowered to use their imagination to take risks, face fears, be bold and conniving, and craft meaningful stories that they will talk about and laugh over for years to come. For example, despite the fact that we live all over the country, I have been playing a game of Dungeons & Dragons with my brother and our childhood friends on a weekly basis for the last eight years.
In 2017, I founded the Chatham High School Dungeons & Dragons Club. Through that initiative and my own experience playing, I have seen the transformative power of shared storytelling—not just as entertainment, but as a tool for developing empathy, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
The Adventuring Academy was born from a desire to give young people a space to put down their screens and pick up their imaginations. My goal is for every camper to walk away with new friendships, epic memories, and the confidence to continue their own adventures for years to come. While I will be personally leading a table at camp, I have put together a team of expert Game Masters dedicated to providing an immersive, high-quality experience for every adventuring party.
